Gold Coast team represented at MJDS State Titles
The Queensland Medibank Junior Development Series Finals were held in Rockhampton over the 24th and 25th of October. It was a big weekend of tennis and the Gold Coast players really embraced playing as a team and displayed fantastic sportsmanship.
The competition went right down to the wire with the Gold Coast team tying for the leading by at the end of day 1. Gold Coast came home strong to take come an overall 2nd position in the Ken Hick-Murray Whitbread Trophy. Fantastic result for our region!!!
The weather was hot in Rockhampton and all participants competed well at the tennis tournament and we were all very excited to be the overall 2nd place. It was a fantastic weekend of tennis and the Gold Coast team showed fantastic sportsmanship throughout the weekend.
Huge congratulations to Alex Furst who came 2nd overall in the 13/under. Alex played a tough final, going down in a third set super tiebreaker. Also huge congratulations to Samantha Cameron who played in her last year in the 17/under coming an overall 2nd place. Samantha also played an extremely tough final going down in a super ties breaker in the third set.

A huge thank you to the supervisors for the trip. It was a big weekend and all supervisors watched a lot of tennis. Thank you to Blake Taylor and Connie Chan for volunteering their time to this weekend. Also a big thank you to Taylor’d Events and the Gold Coast Regional Assembly for the funding that was put towards this state finals trip!
