Queenslander John Millman secured his second round spot today, after defeating Rhyne Williams (USA) in straight sets 6-3 6-1 at the 2015 Brisbane International.
Wildcard entrant, Millman won the match in just over an hour leaving Williams baffled.
Millman’s win means he will now go up against world No.2 and top seed Roger Federer (SUI).
Millman said it’s always an added incentive to go up against players like Federer.
“It’s going to be really exciting and I’m really looking forward to it.
“I think I’ll have a lot of support and I know my mates will be littered around the stadium and they’ll probably come down hard on the fans supporting Federer,” Millman said.
Millman said the Brisbane people always get behind him and he drew on that support he received to get through the shoulder injury he encountered in 2013.
“It’s special playing in front of friends and family, and supporters that have been there every step of the way. It’s always very fun and enjoyable,” he said.
