DAY FIVE, YOUNG SENIORS INDIVIDUAL CHAMPIONSHIPS, TURKEY

For many, it was time for a cold beer at Ali Bey, but for Chris O’Mara from Toowoomba, one of the most consistent performers in seniors’ tennis for the past eight years, its time to continue his consistent play as he figures in three events tomorrow .Chris will play in the advanced stages of Men’s 45 Consolation Singles, the semi of the Men’s 45 Doubles and the final of the 45 Mixed Doubles. As a member of this year’s Dubler Cup team, Chris has now represented Australia in seven overseas teams in the past eight years.
In the Men’s 45 Singles Consolation, Chris O’Mara won 6-2, 7-6(5) and Paul Macknamara was given a walkover. In the Men’s 40 Singles Consolation, Alfonso Sammassimo won 1 and 2. In their consolation matches, Kerryn Cyprien lost 0 and 4 and Wendy Armstrong lost 0 and 2.
In the Men’s 45 Doubles, Chris O’Mara and Pieter Van Houten (Neth) won their match 3 and 1 and will play Mathias Hunting and Lars Mosel (Germ) the number 2 seeds in tomorrow’s semi final. In the 45 Mixed Doubles, Piret Ilves (EST) and Chris won 2 and 4 in their encounter with Linda Roberts and Terry Deeth. Tomorrow, Piret and Chris play the German combination of Karen Steele and Mathias Mueller-Steele in the final of this event. The other player listed for play tomorrow is Alfonso in the consolation singles.
