John Millman has claimed his second successive Challenger title at the Aptos ATP Challenger tournament in California to extend an impressive winning streak.
It was Millman’s second straight title – he won the Lexington Challenger two weeks ago – and has help him build a 10-match winning streak.
He ground his way to three-set victories over No.3 seed Kyle Edmund (semifinals) and seventh seed Austin Krajicek (final) and as a reward jumped 14 places to world No.71 – a career-high ranking.
Millman is now the best-performed player in the world in 2015 on the ATP Challenger circuit.
In other results, Queenslanders Gavin Van Peperzeel and Sara Tomic both reached finals at ITF tournaments at the weekend.
Van Peperzeel reached his fourth final of the season at a Futures event in Friedberg, Germany before going down to local Yannick Hanfmann, while Tomic reached her third final of the season in Egypt, falling to Australian Open junior champion Tereza Mihalikova of Slovakia.
