Philip Sekulic and Lara Walker were in great form on Sunday morning at Melbourne Park, scooping the boys’ and girls’ 12/u Australian Championship titles.

Sekulic defeated Edward Vo 6-3 6-2 while No.1 seed Walker overcame No.2 seed Anastasia Berezov 7-5 6-3.

“It felt good. I thought I played pretty well throughout the tournament,” said Sekulic, the second seed.

“I’m happy with the way I played as well. Edward played well as well. He did well coming to the final.

“I thought I moved well around the court. Felt like it was hard for him to hit the ball past me.”

Sekulic, who trains in Brisbane, plans to increase his training in 2016 and begin playing tournaments again in January.

Walker came within two points of sweeping the 12/u singles and doubles titles.

“I just got a lot back in,” said Walker said of her singles victory, after dealing with tricky conditions on a windy morning in Melbourne. “One end had an advantage, one end didn’t.”

Queenslander Walker then joined Emily Ioannou to face doubles top seeds Charlotte Kempenaers-Pocz and Maggie Pearce, who clinched the title 3-6 6-4 [11-9].
