Twenty-five clubs across Queensland have shared in a $25,000 investment in facility upgrades thanks to grants funded by Heritage Bank and Tennis Queensland.
Pro One Tennis Academy on the Gold Coast was one of the successful applicants under the Heritage Bank Community Tennis Grants Program, receiving almost $2000 to extend the clubhouse and build a licensed café and bar area.
“I think we’ll get a lot more members with this, I think we’ll get a lot more people staying around which is what it’s all about; it’s not just about playing and leaving, but about being part of a club,” said Pro One Head Coach Shayne Tabb.
The grants were awarded to projects that will engage local communities, aid sustainability of the club and increase tennis participation including: clubhouse upgrades, lighting, landscaping, shade structures and signage.
“We’ve got a lot of adults playing social competitions and they don’t have access to coffee, a beer or wine after a game of tennis – which for us is a big part of the tennis experience as well as playing,” added Tabb.
Heritage Bank has been committed to building local communities throughout South East Queensland for the past 140 years and continue their long standing partnership with Tennis Queensland to build the state’s tennis community.
