For the first time, the Queensland Tennis Awards will now include a Supporting Tennis – Local Government Recognition award for Local Government Areas who are engaged with, and are supportive of, tennis in their community.
Toowoomba Regional Council, Maranoa Regional Council, and Ipswich City Council have been named as finalists in the new category.
The award will be presented at the Queensland Tennis Awards on Saturday, 29 October.
The Queensland Tennis Awards are a chance to celebrate and recognise the hard work done at both a grass roots and elite level, with awards in Coaching Excellence, Most Outstanding Athlete, Most Outstanding Tournament, Club of the year, Excellence in Officiating and Most Outstanding School.
The awards have gained industry recognition, with last year’s Most Outstanding School, Brisbane Boys College, going on to win the national Newcombe Medal.
