Sam Stosur’s season is over following another straight-sets loss at the WTA Elite Trophy event in Zhuhai, China.

Stosur’s hopes of scraping into the semifinals of the 12-player round-robin tournament evaporated last night in a 6-4 6-3 loss to Frenchwoman Caroline Garcia.

That followed a 6-4 6-2 defeat to top seed Johanna Konta on Wednesday night.

Australia’s world No.20 has not won a match since late August when she defeated Camila Giorgi in the first round of the US Open.

Since then, she has lost six consecutive matches, all in straight sets.
