Grand Slam coach to the stars Roger Rasheed is heading to Kawana on the Sunshine Coast in January for a two day training camp with aspiring regional players.
Rasheed, who has coached on the ATP Tour for top 10 players including Lleyton Hewitt, Grigor Dimitrov, Gael Monfils and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, will hold the two day camp on January 8 and 9 at Kawana Tennis Club.
“The clinic is being held at Kawana simply because Roger needs courts and we will happily encourage and support this unique opportunity for all the kids who want to have this chance to train with Roger,” said coach Dean Buckland.
“There definitely is a need to give our talented regional kids access to a super-coach like Roger. Most of our big tournaments and players are down south at the capital cities so we seem to always miss out on top coaches coming up this way,” he added.
The clinic is tailored for competitive players between 10 and 18 years, offering them a unique insight into the playing pathway beyond junior competition. It’s a rare chance for youngsters to have access to a coach with proven success on an international stage.
“It will be great for the athletes to have a clearer understanding of the journey ahead. I think the most important aspect is understanding their pathway so they have a direction for 2018 and what’s it is going to take. It would be great to have Roger come back again in 6/9 months time and have a follow up clinic so the athletes can check in with Roger,” said Buckland.
