Leading tennis administrator Mark Handley will continue to provide strong leadership direction in the Sunshine State as the new Tennis Queensland CEO and Brisbane International General Manager.

Formerly Head of Participation at Tennis Queensland before stepping into the acting CEO role in late November 2017, Mr Handley was appointed the role by the Tennis Queensland Board.

Mr Handley has more than 20 years of professional experience in tennis, starting as a coach and tournament director on the Sunshine Coast before entering various roles within Tennis Australia and Member Associations, most recently as CEO in Tennis Tasmania and Head of Participation at Tennis Queensland.

“We are extremely pleased to appoint Mark as Tennis Queensland CEO and Brisbane International General Manager,“ Tennis Queensland President Mark Bloomfield said.

“An extensive recruitment process was initiated in February of this year and we received many applications from highly credentialed candidates. Mark, was selected because he demonstrates the attributes and values sought for the role and has the capability to full-fill the requirements both from a Tennis Queensland and an event perspective.

“It is most pleasing to witness someone from our tennis community develop and grow themselves and progress through an organisation like Mark has.

“In his new role, Mark will be instrumental in growing the business and tennis in Queensland. With a focus on grassroots development, stakeholder communications, government relations and building the Brisbane International, we are excited to see Mark’s long-term vision for the organisation.”

Mr Handley welcomes the exciting opportunity ahead.

“I am delighted to be appointed as the CEO of Tennis Queensland and to continue to build upon the great work achieved over the past six months by our team,” Mr Handley said.

“The passion, determination and constant drive to build this great sport in Queensland has been at the heart of what we do, and I am truly excited to see continued growth and development that gets more people involved in tennis.

Cameron Pearson will continue the role of Brisbane International Tournament Director for the 2019 event.
