Nick Kyrgios leads a contingent of 14 Australians into the men’s and women’s main draws at Wimbledon.

Kyrgios, seeded 15th, was placed in the same section of the draw as No.4 seed Alexander Zverev – whom he could face in the fourth round – following Friday morning’s draw ceremony at the All England Club.

Also in his section – and a potential third-round opponent – is Bernard Tomic, who was elevated to the main draw as a lucky loser after falling in the final round of qualifying on Thursday. He’ll take on Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz in round one.

Kyrgios, who opens against Denis Istomin, is one of three seeded Aussies at this year’s championships.

Ash Barty (17) and Daria Gavrilova (26) are the others; Gavrilova has a tough opener against Zarina Diyas – who’s twice reached the fourth round at Wimbledon – and should she win she could meet another Aussie, Sam Stosur, in round two.

Stosur first plays Peng Shuai, while Barty has drawn Stefanie Voegele in the first round.

The other Aussie in the women’s draw, Ajla Tomljanovic, has landed 10th seed Madison Keys as her first-round opponent.

Tomljanovic is one of six Aussies who have drawn seeded opposition in the first round.

James Duckworth drew perhaps the shortest straw of all, after his name came up against Zverev’s in the opening round.

Matt Ebden will face 10th seed David Goffin, Jordan Thompson has drawn 11th seed Sam Querrey, qualifier Alex Bolt tackles 23rd seed Kyle Edmund of Britain and Alex De Minaur plays 29th seed Marco Cecchiato, the Roland Garros semifinalist who’s also through to this week’s Eastbourne semifinals.

Our two other Aussie qualifiers, Jason Kubler and John-Patrick Smith, will in the first round play Guido Pella and Andreas Seppi respectively, while John Millman will battle Stefano Travaglia of Italy.

Wimbledon begins on Monday 2 July; Millman, Thompson, Kubler, Smith and Tomljanovic will play on Monday, with the rest of the Aussies scheduled for Tuesday.
