John-Patrick Smith has claimed his first career ATP title with victory at the Atlanta Open with Nicholas Monroe.

The Australian-American pairing combined to defeat Ryan Harrison and Rajeev Ram 3-6 7-6(5) [10-8] on Sunday at the ATP 250 hard-court event.

Harrison and Ram led 5-1 in the match tiebreak before Smith and Monroe reeled them in to seal victory in one hour and 23 minutes.

Another doubles duo, Arina Rodionova and Ellen Perez, triumphed at the $60,000 ITF tournament in Granby, Canada.

The Aussies were the No.1 seeds and did not drop a set all week, beating Japanese duo Erika Sema and Aiko Yoshitomi in the final.

It was a great week in Canada for Rodionova, who also reached the singles final; she won four straight matches before falling 6-4 6-3 to Israel’s Julia Glushko in the title match.

Rodionova will next head to the $60,000 ITF event in Lexington, Kentucky, where she faces Perez in the first round.

Jordan Thompson was another Aussie enjoying success last week; the top seed at the Binghamton Challenger in New York, he went all the way to the final before losing in three tight sets to Brit Jay Clarke.

Thompson is next scheduled to play at this week’s ATP 500 event in Washington DC, where he is one of five Aussies in the main draw.

Elsewhere, Heath Davidson reached the final of the Belgian Wheelchair Tennis Open in Jambes, where he fell to world No.1 David Wagner.
