Sixty two teams from regions across Queensland and Australia, including NT, regional SA and Northern NSW, have wrapped up another week of exciting tennis at the Queensland Junior Teams Carnival.

More than 360 players took part in the junior teams tournament after being selected and invited by their respective regions to take part.

Teams were competing for wins in age groups from 11 to 17 years, with Gold Coast winning both 11 and 17 years, and Metro winning 13 and 15 years age groups.

“We are thrilled to have had another successful edition of the Queensland Junior Teams Carnival. It has been a challenging five days with lots of rain delays which was testing for participants, parents and organisers but the feedback and team spirit has been outstanding once again,” said Tournament Director Marc Wittmann.

The event, which launches the Summer of Tennis for juniors, is one of the most popular of the year because it encourages participation, team work and sportsmanship.

“The unique combination of team and individual event guarantees participants match play until the final day. It is great to see the popularity of this event with teams from all over the country travelling to be part of it and enjoy the team spirit it creates.

“We have also been happy to see outstanding sportsmanship across all venues which was celebrated by daily sportsmanship awards thanks to tournament sponsor Tennis Gear. We are already looking forward to an even bigger and better edition in 2019.”
