All affiliated clubs & associations in the Central Region are invited to play and are welcome to nominate 4 Men & 4 Ladies in each of the three divisions in the upcoming 2016 Central Region “Champion of Champions” Regional Tournament to be held on Saturday the 23rd & Sunday the 24th July at the Rockhampton Regional Tennis Centre on Lion Creek Road in Rockhampton to compete for the title of Champion Club in the Central Region and the Bampton Shield.
There will be individual prizes awarded to the winners and runners-up in each event as well as an overall trophy to the Champion Club.
The “Champion of Champions” format will be played over three Divisions: A Grade (ITN 1-5) – B Grade (ITN 6-7) – C Grade (ITN 8-10). The format will be as follows: – Saturday Morning will be the Men’s and Ladies Singles events starting at 8.00am they will finish at approx. 12 noon. The Men’s and Ladies Doubles events will start at 1.00pm and go through until completion on Saturday Afternoon approx. 5.30pm.
Each club can nominate a maximum of 8 Singles players (4 Men & 4 Ladies) in any Division, e.g. 4 Men Singles players – 4 Ladies Singles players. A maximum of 8 Doubles players 2 pairs in the Men’s Doubles 2 pairs in the Ladies Doubles. As the event is time slotted clubs may nominate different players in each section, e.g. 4 singles players and 4 different players in the Doubles, (it can be different players in Singles & Doubles).
The length of the matches will be determined by the number of entrants but will be similar to the former ITN Circuit. The times will be 8:00am to noon Saturday for Singles, 1:00pm to 5:30pm Doubles. Any unfinished matches will be completed on Sunday Morning.
The format will be either continuous feed-in draws or round robin depending on numbers.
All players will receive points for the their respective clubs based on the Winner receiving 1 point, second 2 and so on with 10th receiving 10 points, etc.
To win the champion club trophy each club must nominate at least 6 players to be eligible. The champion club will be decided by adding up all points received by their participating players in all events and dividing them by the amount of players in each event.
The team with the lowest average wins the Club Championship!
Entry fees will be $10.00 for Singles per player & $5.00 for Doubles per player.
Sunday Morning will have the new addition of a FAST4 Singles Tournament for interested players over three divisions, dependent on nominations. Entries will be taken on Saturday 23rd July. Play will commence at 8:00am on Sunday 24th July. There will be individual prizes awarded to only the winners of the FAST4 Singles Tournament in each division. A Junior Coaching Clinic will also be on offer for interested juniors on Sunday morning commencing at 9:00am.
