Congratulations to the Central Region Team on WINNING the 2016 QLD JDS State Finals in Rockhampton on the 15th & 16th October & taking home the Ken Hick/Murray Whitbread Trophy for the 3rd year in a row!!
The Central Region Team dominated the tournament all weekend by finishing day 1 of competition in first place on 40 points and holding on throughout day 2 to become the Champion Region once again with a total of 61 points. That’s a Hat-trick of Championships for the Central Region, what a fantastic achievement!
The Central Team also WON the XStrata Cup (North Region v Central Region) once again for another year!
Our winning team was:-
Luka Bosnjak, Kody Baker, Isabella Cooper, Vada Thaggard, Lachlan Vickery, Thomas Llewellyn, Olivia Massingham, Lacey Robertson, Alec Braund, Owen Ambrey, Tamie Chew, Rahni Parle, Kyle Johnstone, Nathan Cooke, Ameliija Swaffer-Selff & Sophie Bygrave. Team Managers:- Glenn Vickery & Lauren McDonald.
It was a fantastic effort from the Central team, with a total of 6 players reaching the Finals & 11 players reaching the Semi Finals of their respective age groups with 1 all Central player Final.

Congratulations Central Team, the region is extremely proud of you all and your efforts over the weekend. All players represented the Central Region with pride and great sportsmanship on & off the court, played fantastic tennis and never gave up and supported one another. You are a credit to yourself & the region. Well done players!!
Special mention also to the following Central players:- Lydia Coulthurst, Adele Ambrey, Dakota Parker, Summer Robertson & Aidan Massingham for playing for the West Region. Everyone played wonderful tennis and represented not only the West Region but also the Central Region with pride & great sportsmanship. You all should be very proud, as the Central Region are proud of you all & your efforts over the weekend! Well done players!!
