A great way to start your coaching journey, the Community Coaching Course is suitable for those who would like to begin coaching tennis, or who are currently coaching under the guidance of a qualified tennis coach.
The majority of time during the course is spent on-court with participants actively learning to deliver coaching sessions where players serve, rally and score using modified balls, racquets, nets and courts appropriate to the needs of junior players. Coaches completing this course are recognised as Tennis Australia trainee coaches.
During the Community Coaching Course, participants learn to develop the skills of junior tennis players through the delivery of the ANZ Hot Shots program. The course aims to develop the participants ability to deliver coaching sessions using modified balls, racquets, nets and courts appropriate to the development needs of junior players with the emphasis on a creative, positive learning environment for children. This course covers Tennis Australia technical and tactical fundamentals, legal and ethical responsibilities of a coach, coaching methodology, risk management and program planning.
This course has been modified to accommodate the unique challenges that regional coaches face – time and distance. Now only held across 3 contact days, this course will be a wonderful opportunity to grow the sport in the West Region & in the Central Region of Queensland, and the cost is FREE to all Tennis Queensland club affiliates.
The Community Coaching Course valued at $500 is provided FREE of charge by Tennis Queensland’s Rural Sustainability Program. All participants will have to organise their own travel, accommodation, and meals during the course.
