The kids are from Mudgeeraba Special School had 15 participants who spent a couple of days at Somerset College alongside a student “Buddy” playing various sports including Tennis, Swimming and Rock-climbing amongst other things.
It was a great couple of days of Tennis which the students thoroughly enjoyed. It was very hot on court but it didn’t stop the kids having some fun and putting their Tennis skills to the test.
This programme fits in with Somerset College students as part of the community service component of the school curriculum. Working with Head Coach Jay Deacon, Tennis was added to the programme last year with great success and will continue to be offered over the coming years.
Last year, Jay and his coaching team donated Modified Tennis equipment for use at the special school (Nets, racquets and balls) in order to provide tennis opportunities for the students outside of class times.
