Congratulations to the GCS Giants for taking out the Inaugural 2016 Brisbane International QLD State League Finals!
The Giants won the 2015 Gold Coast Tennis League (GCTL) which earned them a spot in the State League Finals which was contested during the 2016 Brisbane International at the Queensland Tennis Centre.
The local Gold Coast Seniors team went up against the winning teams of the other Queensland Regional Tennis Leagues.
The Kalynda Chase Cavaliers qualified for the State LEague Finals by winning the North Tennis League (NTL) with a tough lineup of top Northern Queensland regional and rural players.
The other team that qualified for the State League Final was the BGS Bulldogs who were the overall winners of the Brisbane Tennis League (BTL). The Bulldogs were an extremely strong team led by the big serving Thomas Fancutt who is ranked 636 in the world.
The Giants devastated the Cavaliers 8 rubbers to zero and also defeated the Bulldogs 6 rubbers to 2 in a stellar performance to be crowned the Inaugural 2016 State League Champions!
Both the Gold Coast Tennis League and the QLD State League Final trophies are on display at the Gold Coast Seniors Tennis Club.
