2 August 2016 | Tennis Queensland
Tennis history enthusiasts are being invited to the Queensland launch of a new group, Tennis Heritage Australia.
The group is seeking to create a network of members in Queensland.
A free event will be held at the Toowoomba Tennis Association on Saturday, August 27.
That’s the anniversary of the day the Association’s James Street courts opened in 1929.
Guests are invited to bring along a small collection of old tennis items, and see others’ items.
There will be a talk about the fascinating history of the James Street courts by Darling Downs Museum of Tennis curator Stephen Murphy, and the chance visit the Museum and to hit some balls with old wooden and metal racquets.
Tennis Heritage Australia was founded in Melbourne and already has active members in most other states.
For further information contact Stephen Murphy on 0409 716 647.
