The circuit is a series of events specifically for Hot Shots Red Stage 3 players, developed to create a transition from learning the game to playing the game in a competitive, fun, and relative environment.  All matches are played with Red Balls (25% compression), on chalked or taped Red Stage 3 Courts (11m x 5.5m) and all players must use a racquet no bigger than 23″ in length.

HOW TO ENTER A RED BALL TOURNAMENT

WHAT IS THE FORMAT FOR EACH TOURNAMENT?

  • Players will be guaranteed four (4) matches on the day (withdrawals on the day may impact this).
  • Scoring for each match is first to 15 points, with a deciding point to be played should the score reach 14-14.
  • Players will Serve four (4) points in a row and change ends every eight (8) points.
  • All matches have a Court Supervisor on the court at all times to call the score, call the lines and implement the rules of the game.
  • Both first and second serve must be an OVERARM serve.
  • If it is a LET, it is a replay.

 WHAT IS A TYPICAL TIMELINE FOR A TOURNAMENT?

All players must remain onsite for the duration of the tournament.

9:00-9:15am: Player sign-on + warm-up opportunity
9:15-9:30am: Parents & Player Briefing
9:30am: Play Commences
Approx. 12:00pm: Conclusion of play & Presentation of Awards

(The presentation of awards sees the prize giving for 4 x Achievement Awards and 1 x Good Sport Project Nominees for EACH event).

Top eight (8) points race finishers will be invited to compete at the Coloured Ball Cup. Please note the following:

  • You don’t have to reside within the Gold Coast Region to be eligible to play the Coloured Ball Cup | Red Ball, as this is not used as a selection tournament for the Gold Coast Bull Sharks | Bolt 2 Brisbane team.
  • If you finish in Top 8 in a higher colour, you will be invited to participate in the higher colour.

NEED TO WITHDRAW FROM AN EVENT?

If a player enters into an event, they are expected to play unless they become prevented by illness/injury (must provide a medical certificate).

If a player cannot play, their parent/guardian must notify the Tournament Director in writing ASAP.

Clubs are not required to issue refunds, if withdrawal procedures are not followed.

A player who ‘no shows’ or withdraws during the event will not receive any form of refund.

The withdrawal deadline closes at Monday 11:59 pm before the tournament and withdrawals before this deadline will be granted a $30.00 refund.

Players who withdraw after the above deadline but before the release of the draw will be granted a 50% refund.

Players who withdraw after the release of the draw will not be entitled to a refund, even if a medical certificate can be provided.

In the event that the tournament is cancelled before a player completes their first match, a full refund less a $10.00 admin fee will be issued.
