The JDS State Finals is the annual State Finals for JDS Players. Held in Rockhampton, teams from throughout Queensland will compete to crown the Champion Region as well as an individual winner in each age group.

Players will compete in a continuous round robin draw, providing each player with a minimum of 5 matches. This is primarily a singles event, with a smaller mixed doubles event one afternoon.

In 2023, the Sunshine Coast Team finished 3rd.

Date: 12 / 13 October

Selection Criteria:

The Sunshine Coast JDS State Finals Team is made up of 16 players. 2 boys and 2 girls in each age division consisting of 11/U, 13/U, 15/U and 17/U.

To determine which players earn their place on the Sunshine Coast Team, a points race is tallied across the 9 Sunshine Coast JDS Tournaments. The player who finishes the series as the top point scorer (following the 9 Sunshine Coast JDS Events) for each division will receive a place on the Sunshine Coast Team. The 2nd position on the Sunshine Coast Team for each division will be given to the winner of the Regional Qualifying Event.

To be eligible, a player must have competed in a minimum of 4 Sunshine Coast JDS Events and reside on the Sunshine Coast.

If selected for the JDS State Finals, a player will not be able to compete in the BOLT 2 BRISBANE or Battle of the Sands. JDS State Finals competitors are eligible to nominate for the QLD Junior Teams Carnival.

Please note: Selection for the Sunshine Coast Team is also dependant upon behaviour both on and off the court at events during the year. Should a player’s behaviour or their cohort be deemed innappropriate or where there are repeatable offences, players will not be selected despite ratings or ability.
