WTC Be Active Challenge 2010 hosted throughout January saw over 2,000 tennis players participant across 14 events.  South Australia’s festival of tennis’ provides players from all ages and backgrounds the opportunity to participate in a mass participation event with over 200 tennis courts used throughout South Australia. 

Minister for Tourism, John Rau said the event was significant from a tourism perspective.  “The World Tennis Challenge has been an excellent addition to our events calendar in South Australia.  WTC and the associated Be Active Challenge participation event saw 3,665 people travel to South Australia, generating in excess of $4 million for the State in 2010 and we’re confident that this number will grow in years to come.” 

WTC Be Active Challenge runs in conjunction with Adelaide’s international tennis exhibition event, the World Tennis Challenge to be hosted at Memorial Drive from 11 – 13 January 2011.  Crowds are set to again sell out in 2011 with the recent announcement of the highly anticipated showdown between rival legends John McEnroe and Ivan Lendl to feature on Memorial Drive centre court.

In 2011 the WTC Be Active Challenge will include over a dozen events, including; 

  • WTC City of Charles Sturt AMT, 3-6 January
  • WTC City of Unley Junior Open, 4-7 January
  • WTC City of Salisbury AMT, 7-10 January
  • WTC Les Tapp OAM Junior Inter Association, 8 -12 January
  • WTC Vittoria Coffee Senior Inter Association, 8-10 January
  • WTC InterContinental Corporate Challenge, 10 January
  • WTC City of Prospect Wheelchair Open, 11-14 January
  • WTC Country Carnival, 10-14 January
  • WTC MLC Tennis Hot Shots – Ultimate Red Ball Challenger, 11 January
  • WTC MLC Tennis Hot Shots – Come and Try days 11-14 January
  • WTC Doubles Challenge, 11-13 January
