The Roger Rasheed Sporting Fund, with the catchcry “all kids can play” aims to enrich children’s lives through sport and its founder Roger Rasheed is excited about the venture.

“Sport has been a big influence in my life and the lives of so many people I know and for that I feel very lucky and I now want to share that experience with others,” said Rasheed.

“Sport can play a significant role in the development of young people – it promotes a healthy, active lifestyle and develops personal characteristics vital to successful and fulfilling lives, including teamwork, discipline, respect, work ethic and mateship.

“There are so many children who, due to lack of resources, do not have the opportunity to participate in sport and we‟d like to help some of those children through this Fund.

“What‟s more, through the Fund we will identify some individuals for whom we hope we can provide mentoring to make a difference in their lives,” Rasheed said.

The Fund has already attracted the support of some big names including confirmed Ambassadors Bruce McAvaney, Chris Dittmar, Rachael Sporn, Warren Tredrea, Megan Jones, Wally Masur, Natalie von Bertouch, Tyson Edwards and Travis Dodd.

World sporting great Greg Norman said he was very happy to lend his support.

“I am proud to be the Patron of the Roger Rasheed Sporting Fund”, said Norman. “When Roger spoke with me about what he was hoping to achieve through the establishment of the Roger Rasheed Sporting Fund I had no hesitation in putting my name to the cause.”

The Roger Rasheed Sporting Fund aims to „Enrich Children’s Lives Through Sport‟. The Fund aims to ensure that children, regardless of background or circumstance, have the opportunity to enjoy all that sport has to offer.

The Roger Rasheed Sporting Fund will:

• Give sporting opportunities, experiences and products/equipment to children who would not otherwise have access to them, to help in their development.
• Use sport to help develop and inspire children.
• Help children‟s recovery from illness through sport.
• Create an ongoing mentoring program to support and inspire children in need.

Schools, sporting groups, clubs, communities or individuals can apply for support through the Charity‟s website rogerrasheed.com.
