Hampstead Rehabilitation Centre outpatients braved the wintery weather and participated in a ‘Walk & Roll’ tournament on Sunday 19th June at Broadview Tennis Club.
Anne-Marie Handke, Senior Community Tennis Officer said “Tennis SA in conjunction with Wheelchair Sports SA designed the innovative ‘Walk & Roll’ concept to provide an opportunity for wheelchair players to participate with their friends and family in a highly social environment.
We are pleased to see the new concept embraced and it was great to have ten Hampstead Rehabilitation Centre teams involved on the weekend, despite the cold weather”.
The ‘Walk & Roll’ format sees one wheelchair player paired with one able bodied player competing as a mixed doubles pair. Teams are split into pools of five and after four round robin games play offs used to determine final positions. Congratulations to Andrew Savage who emerged victorious and defended his title from the 2010 Walk & Roll tournament.
