Tennis Australia’s MLC Tennis Hot Shots intro to tennis program has reached new heights with Gawler and District Tennis Association running South Australia’s first Orange Ball tournament as part of their Optus Junior Tournament on Saturday 9th July 2011.

The extreme fog that swept over the Gawler area on Saturday morning did not cloud enthusiasm with six participants from Eastern and Western Districts Tennis Associations and Gawler and District Tennis Association  taking part in a first to four games round robin format.

The final was a hard fought tussle with Doni Gashi (Seaside Tennis Club) just getting the edge on Aiden Ponton (Willaston Tennis Club) 4-3.  All children performed extremely well with many long rallies demonstrating the modified program is a winner.

Rick Bailey, Hot Shots Coordinator and Vice President at Gawler & Districts TA) said “Since introducing the MLC Tennis Hot Shots in Gawler we have started to create a pathway for the kids and opportunities like the orange ball have really been embraced by the parents and kids.  Exciting times ahead”.
