The Tennis SA board have today appointed Mr Steven Baldas to take on the role of Tennis SA Chief Executive Officer.
“Steven brings impeccable credentials in the area of commercial operations as well as a strong playing background” said Kent Thiele, Tennis SA Vice President.
“This blend ensures our sport has the necessary leadership to reach the next level” Kent continues.
Steven’s playing involvement includes competing on the international junior, US collegiate and professional tennis tours. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance (University of Georgia, USA) and Masters Degree in Business Administration (University of Adelaide) which has led him to a 13 year professional career in the financial services sector including a US based Vice President role.
Steve said “Since my tennis career came to an end I’ve had a passion to return to a leadership role within tennis in South Australia.
The role of CEO of Tennis SA will provide me the opportunity to contribute back to a sport that gave me so much” he said.
The selection committee, comprising three Tennis SA board members (excluding the President) and a representative from Tennis Australia completed a comprehensive process to select the right candidate. Steven will commence in the role from 23 April 2012.
Dr. Alistair MacDonald, previous CEO of Tennis SA will be relocating to Melbourne to undertake a key leadership role with Tennis Australia as Tournaments and Competitions Manager.
