The introduction of the new ’one-fee’ membership and affiliation model incepted into Tennis SA clubs and associations is proving successful, with the 20,000th registered member being recorded in the database this week.
“Since the inception of the affiliation model during September 2011, we’ve seen a growth in excess of 6,000 members over the past eight months,” Tennis SA President, Bill Cossey, said. “The affiliation pilot is proving to be one of the most instrumental changes to the way we can collectively administer, fund and support the sport.
“The simpler model facilitates growth for our sport as the club administrators can spend less time on paperwork and instead focus on what they do best, fostering grassroots tennis in their communities,” continues Cossey.
“It clearly demonstrates that when clubs have access to technology they are better positioned to provide the necessary membership information – a key factor Tennis Australia is aware and supportive of.”
“The move to the new affiliation model has also seen a number of long-term non-affiliated clubs and associations affiliate with Tennis SA. This is an excellent result for Tennis SA and the South Australian tennis community as a whole.”
Tennis SA in conjunction with Tennis Australia worked together to formulate the new affiliation model which was piloted in South Australia. In order for Tennis Australia to view the pilot program successful, Tennis SA will need to met certain KPI expectations. If the program is deemed successful it is hoped that it will be not only continued, but rolled out across Australia.
