Upcoming Combined Intro to MLC Hot Shots and Active AfterSchools Community coaching course

What is it?

Intro to MLC Tennis Hot Shots coaching courses are introductory coaching courses produced by Tennis Australia and supported by the Australian Sports Commission (ASC).

The Intro to MLC Tennis Hot Shots coaching course is not part of the National Coaching Accreditation Scheme (NCAS) because it is not considered a qualification.

Intro to MLC Tennis Hot Shots coaching course offers an introduction and orientation to the field of coaching in a particular sport. You will not receive a qualification on completing this course.

Intro to MLC Tennis Hot Shots courses contain two major elements:

  • Coaching principles: two hours
  • Tennis specific coaching concepts: two hours

Who is the Intro to MLC Tennis Hot Shots coaching course for?

An Intro to MLC Tennis Hot Shots coaching course is particularly relevant for people working with children; however, it is also relevant to beginner coaches of any age group.

Course content is directed at children’s sport and covers basic sport skills, group organisation, planning, child development, safety aspects, modified games and activities as well as administration of junior programs.

What will I learn?

The Intro to MLC Tennis Hot Shots coaching course emphasises the practical aspects of coaching. You will learn about:

  • Intro to MLC Tennis Hot Shots
  • fun tennis games and activities
  • assisting in teaching the fundamental skills for tennis
  • providing a fun and enjoyable atmosphere for beginners in tennis.

At the completion of the Intro to MLC Tennis Hot Shots coaching course participants will be able to:

  • understand and appreciate what children enjoy
  • organise coaching sessions
  • conduct game-based coaching sessions.

Course objectives

This course will help you to:

  • understand the role of the coach
  • understand the basics of tennis coaching
  • create a learning environment to address the sport-related needs of children.
