Day 2 of the Showdown was a mixed bag for the SA 14/u Teams in some very trying conditions.

The SA Boys played Victoria B. Mislav Bosnjak opened proceedings in a match that lasted well over 3 hours. Mislav eventually went  down 7/5 in the 3rd. Mislav had a number of match points in the 2nd set, but should showed real spirit throughout the entire match.

Lliam Bishop was a set and 4/1 up in the 2nd, but eventually went down 6/1 in the 3rd. Lliam is on the come back trail from a long term injury and is showing some great signs. The Doubles match was not started due to play being suspended due to the heat. The boys will complete the doubles tomorrow and then play Northern Territory in the afternoon.

The 14/u Girls team remains undefeated after defeating ACT/NSW’s in the morning. Nicole Kreamer played her 1st match in this years teams event winning in straight sets. Nicole is under an injury cloud and is being played sparingly throughout the event. Brooke Milner won her singles in straight sets. The doubles match was not played here. In the afternoon match Brooke saved 5 match points in the second set against New Zealand’s number one, eventually winning 6/2 in the 3rd. Brooke formerly from NT relished the conditions over her New Zealand counterpart. The tie was suspended here due to the extreme heat.

Petra Hule will resume proceedings in the morning and if SA can win this tie they will guarantee themselves a Top 4 placing.
