BRADLEY Mousley is celebrating after a hat-trick of titles at the Australian age tennis championships.
The Wynn Vale player took out the under-16s singles and two doubles titles at last month’s tournament in Melbourne.
In a twist, Mousley played against his doubles partner Harry Bourchier in the singles final and won 6-7 7-5 6-3.
“We just played our (singles) match and when we got off the court we were fine,” Mousley, who turned 17 this month, says.
“Then we had to come out and play doubles together one and a half hours later.”
Mousley also left his mark on the under-18s competition, winning the doubles and making the semi-finals of the singles.
“(The three titles) were one of my biggest achievements so far,” the Golden Grove Tennis Club member says.
“I was just happy to be playing well, instead of winning them.
“It’s really set up my year and now I’ll play in all the junior grand slams … and hopefully improve my ranking.”
Mousley, who is No.2 in Australia for his age, is now focused on his next challenge.
He will play in this week’s Australian Open Juniors at Melbourne Park.
Mousley made it to the second round last year and is aiming to go one better.
“I have to play the best tennis I can because these kids are the best in the world for 18 (years) and under,” he says.
“When I do start playing my best tennis, hopefully I can make the quarter-finals.”
Mousley also aims to bring his world men’s ranking of 1150 down to 700 this year.
He is coached by his father Craig Mousley and by National Academy Adelaide coach Milo Bradley.
