The Coopers Alehouse Metro State League grand finals will be played this Saturday afternoon from 1.00pm
Men’s Final
The Men’s Final to be played at the Trinity Gardens Tennis Club will feature last year Grand Finalists Louca’s Seafood Grill Trinity Titans and Glenlea.
Whilst both Teams recorded a win against each other in the minor round the Trinity Gardens team took the honours in the 1st Semi final. Many of the singles matches during the season went to the third set and one would expect the same this Saturday. It is expected that match will come down to the wire, being decided by the doubles.
Both teams have been strengthened this year with James Ma fronting for the Titans and Pan Kokkinakis for Glenela.
Highlight of the day should be the number 1 singles match between Li Tu from the Titans and Darren Polkinghorne from Glenlea where matches in the past have gone the full distance.
Woman’s final
The Woman’s Final to be played at the Memorial Drive again will feature last year’s winner Memorial Drive. This year they will be up against a new team in the competition Goodwood Saints.
Goodwood saints recorded wins against Memorial Drive both times they met in the minor round. However Memorial Drive prevailed in the 1st Semi final. This should set the scene for an exciting class on the weekend.
Memorial Drive should start favourite having the more experienced team members but the enthusiasm of the younger Goodwood Saints side should not be discounted.
Goodwood has been well served this year by no 1 Leah Daw and the outcome of her clash with the experienced Melanie Clayton should set the scene for the day.
