Tennis SA are excited to announce the teams competing in the 2013 ATL played throughout November.
The men’s competition will comprise of five teams with 2012 SA conference winners the Glenlea Gators currently holding the strongest playing list with Junior Wimbledon Doubles Champion Thanasi Kokkinakis and fellow up and coming youngster Jack Schipanski in the line up. The Trinity Titans have picked up one of South Australia’s top touring players in Colin Ebelthite who will spearhead their team along with Port Lincoln youngster Darren Polkinghorne.
The darkhorse in the mens competition at this stage is Broadview who have Junior Australian Open Doubles winner Brad Mousley along with up and coming New South Wales player Jordan Thompson. The youngsters will be well led by veteran coach Martin Richards.
The women’s draw will feature six teams competing for the state conference with 2012 State and National ATL champions the Flagstaff Freighters arguably holding the strongest list of the women’s teams. Flagstaff has recruited strongly for 2013 by again signing up touring player Karolina Wlodarczak and adding Western Australian touring professional Jess Moore to their list.
Trinity Titans women’s side looks strong with local South Aussie Leah Daw headlining the team which also has locals Amy Sneath and Nada Vujic. Memorial Drive may be the big improvers in the women’s competition with Japanese pair Asaka Hiura and Yuka Karoda signed for the 2013 season and local player Alex Cannizzaro adding genuine depth to their list.
The 2013 ATL SA conference is set to be another exciting season of top level team tennis featuring some of the best players from around Australia and Asia.
Teams will be competing for the SA conference title with the winner of each state title earning the right to compete in the National ATL Playoff held at Melbourne Park during the 2014 Australian Open.
