South Australian Luke Saville has won through to the second round of the Charles Sturt Adelaide International with a straight sets win over Japan’s Shuichi Sekiguchi. Saville gave up a 4-2 lead in the second set with Sekiguchi leveling at four all before the Riverlander broke Sekuguchi again and served out the match.
In other main draw results American number one seed Bradley Klahn disposed of Australian wildcard Jacob Grills in straight sets while Aussie youngster Harry Bouchier caused the upset of the tournament so far beating eighth seeded compatriot Greg Jones 7-6 6-3.
Tomorrow will see the completion of the first round with Queenslander Ben Mitchell first up on Centre Court against Japans Yuichi Ito and second seed James Duckworth playing Toshihide Matsui.
Later in the day defending champion Mathew Barton will play New Zealand’s Rubin Statham who has just returned from Davis Cup duties in China.
