Australian John-Patrick Smith knocked out local favourite Luke Saville in straight sets today at the Charles Sturt Adelaide International. Played in perfect conditions, Smith won a tight first set in a tiebreak and then bolted home in the second 6-2 to move into the quarter finals.

American number one seed Bradley Klahn also moved through to tomorrow’s quarter final with a three set win over Aussie Ben Mitchell. After losing the first set, Klahn held strong to grind out the win 4-6 6-3 6-4.

The match of the day was Aussies Harry Bourchier and Maverick Banes fighting out a classic battle on centre court in front of a strong crowd of enthusiatic spectators. Banes won the match in two tie break sets but had to break Bourchier at 5-6 in the second to take the match to a second tie break which he managed to win securing the victory.

Tomorrow will see second seed James Duckworth take on former top 100 player Danai Udomchoke from Thailand and reigning champion Matthew Barton up against British qualifier Cameron Norrie.
