Fourth seed Luke Saville (SA) played a nail-biting quarterfinal against Matthew Barton (AUS) winning in the only three set match on Friday at the City of Onkaparinga Tennis International.
Saville won the match 4-6 6-4 6-4 at the Happy Valley Tennis Club, advancing to a semifinal meeting with second seed Yasutaka Uchiyama of Japan.
The top four seeds in the event reached their projected semifinal berths; No.1 seed Jamere Jenkins (USA) knocked out eighth seed and defending champion Alex Bolt (SA) 6-2 6-4, while Aussies No.3 seed Jordan Thompson advanced in straight sets over compatriot Jake Eames.
The doubles final was also contested on Friday in stellar weather conditions at Happy valley Tennis Club, with top seeds Marcus Daniell (NZL) and Dane Propoggia (AUS) defeating Japanese third seeds Uchiyama and Takuto Niki 6-3 6-2.
