The 2014 Tennis SA Queen’s Birthday Championships will be held this weekend from Friday, June 6 – Monday, June 9.
South Australian’s Colin Ebelthite and Nicole Collie have been named as the top seeds for the Main Draw singles events, whilst Asyraf Azhar/Yuya Ito and Nicole Collie/Darcee Kelly will lead the doubles events.
The tournament will begin with singles qualifying on Friday, along with two rounds of Main Draw doubles. Main Draw singles will then begin on Saturday morning, continuing on Sunday, leading in to finals for both singles and doubles on Monday.
Matches will be held at the Memorial Drive Tennis Centre and Next Generation Memorial Drive, starting at 8.30am each day. Matches will wrap up by lunchtime on Saturday to allow for the Port Adelaide vs St Kilda match being played at Adelaide Oval later that afternoon.
A gold level Australian Money Tournament, the Queen’s Birthday Championships offer a total of $7500 in prize money, as well as crucial Australian Ranking Points.
Always a hotly contested event, the 2013 tournament was won by Stefan Szacinski and Amy Sneath in the singles and Simon Bates/John Hall and Nicole Collie/Nicole Kraemer in the doubles.
