South Australian junior girls continued their recent dominance of the 14/U Australian Teams event when they went back to back in the Mary Hawton Cup. The team consisting of Jeanette Lin, Amber Marshall and Selina Turulja went through the team’s event undefeated defeating ACT, Tasmania, Queensland, Victoria, New Zealand and eventually New South Wales in the final.
Selina Turulja was simply outstanding throughout the event winning all her six singles and four doubles matches. Team Manager Rohan Fisher was extremely proud of the girl’s effort and paid special tribute to Turulja. “Selina has had a great year representing her country in India earlier this year and her success this week just tops it off. Selina wore the South Australian shirt with pride”.
Earlier in the week Turulja made her 1st 14s National doubles final with Kaitlyn Staines (NSW) in the 14/U Australian Championships. South Australia continued its doubles dominance of recent years when it was represented with a presence in 3 of the 4 National Doubles finals held during the 1st week of the December Showdown. Sam May and Sean Van Rensburg achieved their first 14s National Doubles Championship when they won the 14/U Australian Boys Championship. Sister’s Chloe & Petra Hule continued their great year in doubles when they made the 18/U Australian National doubles final.
