Local and international rising stars are set to converge on Memorial Drive Tennis Centre this month to battle it out at the $15,000 Coopers Adelaide International ITF men’s Futures event.
The tournament, to be held from 21 February – 1 March, continues a blistering summer of tennis in Adelaide and across the country.
“We are excited to be hosting an Australian Pro Tour event here at the Memorial Drive Tennis Centre,” said Steven Baldas, Tennis SA Chief Executive Officer.
“These types of tournaments are a very important step for players trying to build a professional career and also provide a great opportunity for players trying to break through for their first ATP point,” Baldas added.
The men’s Pro Tour tournament adds to the South Australian swing of events, which includes a $15,000 women’s event being held at the Clare Tennis Club during the same week, and is followed by Port Pirie Tennis Club hosting a combined men’s and women’s event from 28 February – 8 March.
“This event brings some great talent from across Australia and the world to Memorial Drive Tennis Centre, providing a great chance for the public to come along and see the world’s rising stars,” said Tournament Director, Ty Allen.
“These players can move from this level of tournament up to the ATP level very quickly. Thanasi Kokkinakis played in these events last year and we have seen the progression he has made over the past 12 months.”
Qualifying for the 2015 Coopers Adelaide International will be held from 21-23 February, with main draw matches commencing Tuesday 24 February. Entry is free for spectators.
