It’s been a successful day for the seeds here at the 2015 Clare Valley Tennis International, with all of the five remaining making it through the round of 16.
First seed Su Jeong Jang (KOR) defeated Australian qualifier Priscilla Hon 6-0 6-2, second seed Na-Lae Han (KOR) overcame Chang Liu (CHN) 6-1 6-3 and Australia’s fifth seed Jessica Moore defeated Fang Ying Xun (CHN) in a hard fought match 7-6(7) 7-6(5).
In other matches, seventh seed Pia Konig (AUT) defeated wildcard recipient Sally Peers (AUS) 6-2 6-3, eighth seed Yan Wang (CHN) defeated Chen Liang (CHN) 6-2 7-6(3) and Mana Ayukawa (JPN) defeated qualifier Karis Ryan (AUS) 6-3 6-2. Mai Minokoshi (JPN) defeated wildcard recipient Jelena Stojanovic (AUS) 6-4 6-2 and qualifiers Jennifer Elie (USA) and Zoe Hives (AUS) played off with Jennifer coming out on top 6-3 6-4.
Day 7 action will be headlined by Australia’s very own Jessica Moore who will take her place in the singles quarter finals, as well as the doubles final with partner Jennifer Elie (USA) against the second seeded Japanese pairing of Mana Ayukawa and Kotomi Takahata later in the day. Spectators are encouraged to attend the doubles final, with free entry to the complex, BBQ and drinks available.
Day 7 will also see the continuation of the Pro Tour Schools Experience, featuring a behind the scenes tour of the tournament and ANZ Tennis Hot Shots.
