The weather finished off the tournament beautifully here in Port Pirie to finish off the 2015 Nyrstar Port Pirie Tennis International.

In the Men’s Final Australian Matthew Barton took to the court first and seemed eager to get the match underway  with  the crowd not leaving one seat unattended. Barton continued his good form against his opponent Alexander Sarkissian (USA)  taking out the first set in in style 6-3. In the second Sarkissian tried to regain poseur but seemed unable to when Barton continued to hit winners across court.  Barton took control when Sarkissian became frustrated and lost his temper at 4-2  in the second set winning the match 6-3 6-4. Barton received his second title in South Australia after winning his first title at the Charles Sturt Tennis International in 2013.

In an entertaining women’s  final, third seed Su Jeong Jang (KOR) came out firing against fellow Korean Na-Lae Han winning the first set 6-3, showing why she won the Clare Valley Tennis International in the previous week.  Jang got to a quick start in the second set with a 4-2 lead and looked to put the match to an end. Han in a remarkable comeback won the next four games in a row shocking the crowd and her opponent winning the second set 6-4. Han went on to win the next four games in a row before Jang tried to have a comeback but was unable to strike back awarding the final to Han 3-6 6-4 6-2 for the 2015 Nyrstar Port Pirie Tennis International.

Our sincere thanks to Tournament Coordinators Neil Lucas and Grant Hanlon and the team here at the Port Pirie & District Tennis Association who  have worked tirelessly over the past ten days to make this tournament a huge success.
