Iand and Warren

Tennis SA would like to welcome our newest Participation Leaders (PLs), Ian Barry (above left) and Warren Foote (above right).

Ian Barry has extensive experience in increasingly responsible roles within sales and territory and account management. In his most recent position, Ian managed the SA, NT and Tasmania sales territory for MiTAC Australia, the distributors for Navman and Magellan. Before this role, Ian was the Key Account Manager for SA and WA at Warner Roadshow Home Entertainment.

Ian’s tennis experience will compliment his employment history in his new role with Tennis SA. Ian has represented SA Country at both junior and senior levels and recently been the Chair of the Junior Activities Committee for the Hills Tennis Association.

Ian will take on the role of PL in the South region, including the Glenelg District and Southern District Tennis Associations, as well as the regional associations of Southern Ports, Millicent, Penola, Naracoorte, Tatiara, Keith, Tintinara and Mt Gambier.

Warren Foote, originally from Adelaide, has been based in Darwin for the past five years working with the NT Government’s Department for Sport and Recreation, directly assisting NT peak sport bodies with their governance, operations and funding.

Warren also has extensive experience in tennis as a player and coach, including 15 years of running tennis centres and coaching operations. He has represented both SA and NT at national events and Australia as a junior in national high school teams.

Warren will take on the role of PL in the North West region, including the Western District, Eastern District and the lawn tennis associations, as well as the regional associations and clubs in the West Coast and Upper Northern regions of the state.

The PLs’ primary aim is to engage, influence, support, educate and develop relationships with associations and clubs – rather than sell and run programs, i.e. Hot Shots, Cardio and Schools – to embrace the “Participation Story”:

• Associations and Clubs
• Affiliation, My Tennis and Tennis Connect
• Competitions
• Programs
• Places to Play
• Schools and Coaches

Ian and Warren join existing PLs, Anne-Marie Handke and Andy Wilson (formally Community Tennis Officers). Anne-Marie will cover the North East region, which includes the North East Tennis Association, as well as the regional associations and clubs in the Lower Northern, Yorke Peninsula and Riverland regions of the state. Andy will cover the East region, which includes the Hills Tennis Association, Tennis Seniors SA, as well as the regional associations and clubs in the Murray and Fleurieu.
