The South Australian boys team has taken the Super 10s National Title defeating all other states in the recent competition held in Melbourne during the Australian Open.
The team consisting of (pictured Lto R) David Reutlinger, Alex Despoja, Henry Lamchinniah and Anthony Wu, defeated Victoria, Tasmania and Western Australia in round robin matches, followed by Queensland in the final.
Lamchinniah, who had an excellent tournament, picked up the prized ‘Hewitt Award’ for tactical understanding which was voted on by team managers throughout the event.
The South Australian girls team of Andrea Kristo, Elim Yan, Alessia Van Der Eerden and Elizabeth Probyn-Shingles also had a fantastic event finishing fifth with some very close, hard fought matches.
The teams were coached and managed by Jim Chaousis (JC Tennis and Fitness) and Codie George (Tennis SA Millswood Complex), who both did an exceptional job.
Other highlights throughout the event included three South Australian players having the opportunity to toss the coin for Australian Open finals matches:
Alex Despoja – Mens singles Semi-Final Djokovic v Federer
Andrea Kristo – Womens singles Semi-Final William v Radwanska
Alessia Van Der Eerden – Womens doubles Final Hingis/Mirza v Hlavackova/Hradecka
