Senior State League – Results

Kingswood’s men’s team has taken a narrow victory over The Drive with the overall result coming down to a difference on games after rubbers and sets were even. Kingwood’s Sean Van Rensburg beat rival Stefan Norodom at top single and Josh Laka defeated Jonothan Norodom at second single to set up the win. Van Rensburg then paired with Sam Gericke in the doubles to clinch a tight win for Kingswood.

Collingrove continued their winning ways with a win over Seaside with Matt Teivans continuing his strong form winning his singles and doubles matches for the third time this season. The win moves collingrove up to fourth spot while Seaside drop to sixth.

Trinity Gardens were far too strong for Tea Tree Gully with a six rubber to love win giving them some valuable premiership points. Tea Tree Gully’s number one Tyson Devine fought hard at top single but lost a three set match to Andrew Tavella. Trinity Gardens then ran away with the match with singles wins to Scott Hughes, Charlie Nicholas and Jared Waterman.

Broadview have moved to second position on the State League ladder after defeating Glenlea who drop to fourth spot after a five – one rubber win to Broadview. Glenlea’s Damian Farinola fought out a tough three set win over Broadview’s Corey Decandia however from there it was all Broadview with singles wins to Martin Richards and Lachlan Smith setting up the win.

In the women’s competition Denman have registered their first win of the season when they overcame Trinity Gardens. Trinity Gardens number one Jieyi Chen fought off Casey Jackson in three sets. However Denman’s Michelle Mackenzie and Jacqui Scott both had three set wins to set up the victory. Denman’s Mackenzie and Jackson then overcame Stefana Petrov and Olivia Salvatore in three tight sets to clinch the win.

The Drive have continued their winning ways with a five – one win over Kingswood which keeps them in top position on the ladder. Georgia Palasis had a good win for Kingswood over Vanessa Cozamanis, however the experience and strength of The Drive shone through with singles wins to Mel Clayton, AJ Walters and Michelle Leyden delivering the win.

Seaside are emerging as a genuine contender for the State League title with another dominant display, this time downing Goodwood six rubbers to love. The Seaside team was full of teenagers hungry for success with Selina Turulja, Tahlia Van der Eerden, Maggie Pearce and Tully Richter all having strong singles wins. Seaside now sit just one point behind The Drive in second place.

Glenlea kept their season ticking along nicely when they took down Golden Grove four rubbers to two. Glenlea number one Olivia Ley was in strong form with a straight sets wins over Indi Arna Morris, and was well supported by youngsters Tayla Whitehouse and Charlotte Kempenaers-Pocz who also registered wins.
