 State League – Results

Kingswood men’s team have claimed a major scalp with a resounding five to one rubber win over Collingrove on the weekend. Kingswood young gun Sean Van Rensburg got his team off to a strong start at number one with an impressive straight sets win over Matt Teivans. This win was followed up by singles wins to Sam Gericke and Jayden Pacor to set Kingswood up for victory.  Van Rensburg and Gericke then paired to clinch the tie with a straight sets win at top double. This win moves Kingswood in fourth spot on the State League ladder.

Glenlea were able to win a rain affected tie with Seaside after winning both doubles in straight sets and then Simon Pascoe beating Eddie Vo in straight sets. The rubber wins along with sets won in incomplete matches got Glenlea over the line for the important win.

Trinity Gardens and Broadview fought out an interesting match with rubbers, sets and game level when the match was cancelled due to rain. Broadview’s Corey Decandia had a strong three set win over Li Tu at number one before Andrew Tavella struck back for Trinity Gardens when he beat fellow veteran Martin Richards.  With the bottom two singles matches being split, it was two rubbers all going in to the doubles. Unfortunately, what could have been a classic was not able to proceed due to rain.

Tea Tree Gully and The Drive were unable to get their match past the first rubbers due to rain.

In the ladies competition, Kingswood ladies had an impressive win over Goodwood by five rubbers to one. Goodwood’s Brooke Milner did her part with a strong three set win over Natasha Russell before Kingswood asserted their dominance with singles wins to Yasmin Glazbrook, Tiana Glazbrook and Vittoria Peresano. Russell and Yasmin Glazbrook then paired to seal the match with a straight sets win at top double.

Seaside had a very strong five rubbers to one win over Glenlea to further enhance their position on the State League ladder. Selina Turulja had a great win over Tayla Whitehouse at top single before youngsters Maggie Pearce and Tully Richter pushed Seaside further ahead. Winning both doubles also played a key part in the impressive win for Seaside.

The Drive had a five rubbers to one win over Denman with Melissa Beadman setting her team up with a hard fought win over Casey Jackson in three sets. Beadman’s win was followed by wins to team mates Alexandra Walters and Alana Repanich. Denman’s Jacqui Scott was able to get her teams only rubber with a win over Vanessa Cozamanis before The Drive ran away with both doubles to cement a dominant win.

Unfortunately the match between Golden Grove and Trinity Gardens ladies was not able to complete any matches due to the rain.
