Junior State League Play of the Year – Leader Board

In the Boy’s competition Coromandel Valley and Goodwood remain unchanged on the ladder as they continue to show their dominance in the competition with both teams winning again in Round 8. Coromandel Valley defeated an undermanned Seaside six rubbers to none and Goodwood defeated a consistent Stirling team fiver rubbers to one with their two top players out of the side.

Glenunga came out firing against Peake Gardens when David Wang, David Jung and Ben Kelly all won their respective singles. David Jung played a closely contested singles match against Peake Gardens Pierce Hynes, winning 7-6. Peake Gardens Kristo Daminato held strong at number four winning 6-0. Peake Gardens had an opportunity to take it to three rubbers all after singles. Glenunga closed the opportunity quickly when David Wang and Nathan Catalano won top doubles 7-6. Glenunga walked away with a five rubbers to one win, putting Glenunga back into the top four after Stirling lost.

Trinity Gardens continue to win matches by the skin of their teeth and round 8 was no different. Even with the return of Tea Tree Gully’s top two player’s it wasn’t enough for Tea Tree Gully to get over the line. Trinity Gardens took the match to three rubbers all against Tea Tree Gully. Trinity Gardens Luka Ilic and Henry Lamchinniah proved to be the difference winning their respective singles matches by bigger margins which handed Trinity Gardens the win on games 29-25.

In the Girls competition seaside had a similar result to the boy’s when they came up against an undefeated Goodwood team who look to have all the answers at the moment. With all players putting in their best efforts, Goodwood took a comfortable six rubbers to none victory.

Happy Valley continue to put the pressure on Goodwood as they sit just below them on the ladder. This was no different in round 8 when they came up against Hahndorf. Happy valley’s number one Heidi Evens was pushed by in form Kara Tscharke winning 7-6. This winning form continued for Happy Valley at number two and three. Hahndorf’s Jacqueline Smith who has been strong at number four gave her team a chance when she beat Nicole Kascak 6-2. Heidi Evens and Ebony Harper locked in the four premiership points for Happy valley after winning their doubles 6-3, handing the team a four rubber to two win.

Trinity Gardens followed in the footsteps of the boy’s when they came up against a Beaumont team which can’t seem to get a break in the closely contested matches. Beaumont looked to strong when Annika Tobin and Juliette Robinson came out and won singles at one and two. Trinity Gardens then turned the tables when Hayley Waterman and Angela Galantomos won at three and four. Doubles followed in similar fashion with rubbers splitting at three rubbers all, Trinity were crowned the winners with a 29-26 game lead.
