The Drive men have won a thriller over Broadview by one game after rubbers and sets were even. Broadview’s Nathan Eshmade was too strong for Lawrence Bataljin in his comeback to State League after injury lay off with a straight sets win. The Drive’s Stefan Norodom continued his impressive season with a gritty three set win over Corey Decandia to get The Drive into the match against the highly rated Broadview. After the singles were levelled at two rubbers all it came down to the top double where The Drive’s Bataljin and Norodom overcame Eshmade and Sam Longhurst to clinch a much needed victory for The Drive who have had a tough 2016/17 season so far.

Tea Tree Gully also managed a much need win when they upset Collingrove in another thriller. Tea Tree Gully’s Tyson Devine outlasted Oliver Douglas to in a classic encounter 7-5 in the third. Collingrove’s Matt Teivans clawed a rubber back with a straight sets win over Dale Nixon. With the match levelled at two rubbers all prior to the doubles it all came down to the top doubles with Devine and Simon Bates taking out a super close encounter against Douglas and Teivans 7-6 in the third to give Tea Tree Gully the win they’ve been looking for.

Glenlea put on a strong display against Kingwood taking out the match 5-1. Glenlea’s Damian Farinola outlasted Sean Van Rensburg in three tough sets to get Glenlea on top early. Another three set win to Simon Pascoe as well as straight sets wins to Ben Mooney and young gun Cameron Robinson gave Glenlea the win and a nice boost up the State League ladder.

Trinity Gardens took advantage of an under strength Seaside when they had a resounding 5-1 win. Nick Thomas flew the flag for Seaside with an impressive win over James Ma however straight sets win to Li Tu, Andrew Tavella and Scott Hughes gave Trinity Gardens the win in a men’s competition that is as close as we have had at State League level in many years.

Goodwood proved too strong for Denman with a 5-1 win. Goodwood’s Brooke Milner had a tough win over Casey Jackson at top single and was well supported by teammates Nikki Milner and Evana Bowell who also register straight sets win to set up the victory.

Trinity Gardens registered a much need victory over an under strength Seaside team when they won a tight match on sets after rubbers were level. Trinity number one Jovana Petrov had an impressive straight sets win at top single. Seaside’s Kristy Gibbons was able to get her teams only rubber for the day with a singles win over Stefana Petrov. The Petrov sisters were able to clinch the tie when they paired to take out the top double.

Kingswood continued their impressive season with a 4-2 win over Glenlea. Glenlea’s Tayla Whitehouse registered her teams only singles win with a solid straight sets win over Natasha Waterman at top singles. Kingswood’s Yasmin and Tiana Glazbrook and Georgia Palasis all had strong straight sets wins before Tiana Glazbrook and Georgia Palasis paired up to clinch the tie with a convincing win at second double.

The Drive asserted their dominance on the ladies competition with a 5-1 win over Golden Grove. Golden Grove’s Indi Arna Morris put in a brave performance against Melanie Clayton at top singles but was eventually beaten in three sets. The Drive’s Melissa Beadman and Michelle Leyden both had straight sets wins to clinch the victory for The Drive.

Ladies State League ladder
