State League – Results

Glenlea’s men’s State League team have had a thrilling win over Seaside with a win by two games after rubbers and sets were level. Seaside’s Mislav Bosnjak overcame Damian Farinola in two tight sets at top single which was back up by teammate Terry Karahalious who managed a singles win over Glenlea’s Boris Vujic. Glenlea’s Stephen Clasholm and Ben Mooney levelled the tie at two rubbers all with singles win for Glenlea . Farinola and Mooney then paired to clinch the tie with a tight two set win over Bosnjak and Asyskal Azhar.

Trinity Gardens also won a tight match in the twilight fixture with Broadview with a win by one set. It was singles wins to Trinity Gardens Li Tu, Andrew Tavella and Scott Hughes that set up the win. Broadview’s Liam Bishop managed to score thier only singles win with a straight sets win over Daniel Silvestria. Broadview managed to win both doubles but the set Trinity pairing John Nedjedlik and Andrew Tavella won in the three set loss to Marty Richards and Kurtis Willson was enough to get them over the line.

Kingswood’s men’s proved too strong for Collingrove with a 4-2 rubber win. Collingrove number one Matt Teivans was too strong for Sam Gericke however Kingswood won all other singles rubber with Todd Mclean, Patrick Klaosen, and Troy Mcneil all getting the job done for their team. Mcneil and Klaosen then paired up to clinch the tie when they took out their doubles rubber.

Tea Tree Gully continued their climb up the ladder with a 4-2 rubber win over The Drive. The Drive’s Lawrence Bataljin overcame Tyson Devine in two tight sets with Bataljin winning the big points when it mattered most. The Drive’s Torrence Walters got his team’s second rubber while Tea Tree Gully’s Simon Bates and Steve Clarke registered singles wins to level the match at two rubbers all. Devine and Bates paired at top doubles to seal the tie for Tea Tree Gully.

Seaside ladies had a good 4-2 rubber win over Glenlea with Tully Richter winning her first match at top single at State League level when she overcame Glenlea’s Sophie Fry. Richter’s win was backed up by wins to team mates Kristy Gibbons and Caitlyn Wyatt. Richter and Faith Pearson-McKenzie then paired up at top double to lock away the win for Seaside that consolidates second place on the State League ladder position going into the Christmas break.

Kingswood continued their strong State League season with a 4-2 rubber win over Goodwood. Goodwood’s Brooke Milner had a good win over Natasha Waterman at top singles before Kingswood took control with singles wins to Nicole Kraemer, Georgia Palasis and Vittoria Peresano. Kraemer and Palasis managed to score another win in the doubles for Kingswood which confirmed the win.

The Drive were far too strong for Denman with a 6-0 rubber win taking them into the break undefeated and looking like strong premiership favorites. The Drive have managed to combine their experience with youth so far this season and the results speak for themselves.

Trinity Gardens were too good for Golden Grove with a 4-2 rubber win. Trinity Gardens Jovana Petrov had an impressive 3 set win over Maddison Bishop that was backed up by teammates Jieyi Chen and Rita Zhiltsova. Indi-Arna Morris managed to score Golden Groves only singles win when she defeated Stefana Petrov at second single.

After 10 rounds without any weather cancellations the State League season will take a break for the Christmas and January tournament period and will resume on Saturday, January 28.
