Tennis SA are excited to be running two ANZ Tennis Hot Shots Orange ball leagues in Term 1 2017. After the great success and positive feedback in regards to the Term 4 orange ball competition run in Glenelg Districts we are thrilled to be able to offer this opportunity to Western Districts clubs, in addition to Glenelg Districts, in Term 1 2017.
Season structure
Matches will take place Saturday mornings at 10:30am throughout Term 1 with Glenelg Districts commencing on February 11 and Western Districts commencing on February 18. First round matches will be at a centralised location (venue TBC) to allow for a 10 minute parent information session prior to the beginning of matches. Both leagues will conclude on Saturday April 1st and will both take place, again, at a centralised location (venue TBC) to create a carnival atmosphere and allow for presentations to take place. A home and away fixture will be utilised for all other rounds.
Team and match formats
Teams will consist of three players each week with each player playing one singles match and two doubles matches. Each match will be one set first to 4 games following the Fast 4 format. The beauty of this is it ensures each player is always playing as well as all matches being completed within a 90 minute time frame.
Court set up and balls
All matches will be played using orange balls and courts will be set out using Orange Ball guidelines. Parents’ attendance and support at matches helps to ensure games are enjoyable, run smoothly and a family atmosphere is created.
Why Join?
Hot Shots Leagues focus on creating a great first time playing experience for kids who are early in their journey of competition play and allow a smooth introduction to inter club league structure as an ideal pathway from coaching into the junior competition.
