Day 1 of the City of Onkaparinga Tennis Challenger 2017 has come to a close with eight singles qualifying matches completed in calm conditions.

In an all-South Australian affair, Mislav Bosnjak opened the proceedings on Centre Court with a 6-3 6-4 win over Sam Longhurst. The South Australian success continued with Alex Bolt taking a win over Patrick Fitzgerald (Vic) 7-5 6-2 and Sean Van Rensburg defeating Luke Sebastiani (SA) 6-0 6-1.

Unfortunately, the South Australian luck then changed with Steven De Waard (Qld) defeating Stefan Norodom 6-3 6-3, Dayne Kelly (Vic) overcoming Brock Meuris 6-1 6-2 and Yasutaka Uchiyama (JPN) taking the win over Bradley Mousley in a long three setter, 1-6 7-6(2) 7-5

In other matches, Harry Bourchier (TAS) defeated No.1 seed Reilly Opelka (USA) 7-6(6) 5-7 7-6(5) and Brydan Klein (GBR) defeated Lawrence Bataljin (SA) 6-2 6-1.

Day 2 is headlined by former world No.39, Australia’s Marinko Matosevic (Vic) playing against De Waard in the first match on Court 6. The South Australian contingent of Luke Saville, Alex Bolt and Sean Van Rensburg will also take to the court during the day, with matches starting from 11.00 am.
