South Australia’s Alex Bolt (Murray Bridge, SA) and Luke Saville (Cobdogla, SA) have today made their way through qualifying at the City of Onkaparinga Tennis Challenger 2017.
Bolt defeated Dayne Kelly (Vic) 7-6(2) 6-3, while Saville defeated former world No.39, Marinko Matosevic (Vic) 7-6(6) 6-4.
Bolt comes into the main draw on the comeback trail, following a nine month hiatus from the game. With a current world ranking of 512, the 23-year-old will be looking to continue his good results at Happy Valley, having had semi-final and quarter-final round appearances in the past two years.
Former world No.152, Saville will be looking to perform well in Happy Valley, in order to set himself up for a successful summer of tennis ahead.
Bolt is set to take on Tatsuma Ito (JPN) in the first round, while Saville will meet Australian wildcard recipient Max Purcell (NSW), with both matches to be played on Tuesday.
“We are of course thrilled to welcome two South Australians to the main draw for the City of Onkaparinga Tennis Challenger 2017,” said Tournament Director Breanna Hassam.
“The tournament is now in full swing and we encourage the public to seize the opportunity to support our local players and see world class tennis in their backyard,” Hassam added.
Main draw matches will continue at the Happy Valley Tennis Club today, with play starting at 11.00 am.
